Well, I've glady chosen my oldest daughter to help with this demonstration. Even though she is only 11 she knows a lot about taking pictures. She knows when her subject is too bright, too dark, etc. She probably knows more about taking photos than most of you! LOL She does not, however, know how to take photos in manual which is what I do. So, we took my middle child in our plain ole back yard to take some photos. There was not much to work with but grass, an ugly fence, and pink brick house, and a tree. She used automatic mode and it was a challenge for her but I gave her some advice and this is what she came up with:
Once her time ran out it was my turn. I went to some of the same spots, but I chose to pose her a little differently and chose to work with some of the things we have that aren't so great and hopefully made them turn out great. I love closeups too and for one child I think that is the best way to go. So my turn was up and here is what I came up with:
So, we used the same camera and the same location. Can you tell a difference?
I will tell you that not all my pictures turn out great though! I just don't show you guys my bad pictures and I want you to think that every thing I take is perfect. hehe
You're more than welcome to leave any comments or questions. I love to hear from you guys!!
So you used the same camera, but she used automatic mode and you manual? You are great Christina! And you are a good mom for letting your kids explore w/ these things. :) Thanks for the demonstration!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Renee!! Yes, we both used the same camera but different modes. I always use manual and she used automatic cuz manual is too difficult for her right now.
ReplyDeletePlus, I had to threaten her with all of her birthday money to make sure she didn't drop my camera!! LOL
You will make a photographer out of her yet!!!! Love you guys - mom
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. People always think a new and expensive camera will make them instant (and great) photographers. Thanks for posting this! :) P.S. I am still on a new camera hunt, but that's just because there are some features I don't like on my camera. lol
ReplyDeleteYes Kim... people do think that and it's sad! Its not the equipment that you buy that makes you a good photographer. Its knowing how to use your camera to the full extent, knowing what you're doing, and showing great composition and great photos! If you don't know how to use your camera then your photos are not going to be great. I can guarantee that!
